TV or radio broadcasting is a technique for the one-way transmission of signals to a large number of receivers. Broadcasting is not a standard but more transmission mode. It is based on wide type of equipment, norms and standards.
FM / DAB / DAB+ :
FM radio, invented in 1933 by Edwin Armstrong, is a method of radio broadcastingprogrammes using Frequency Modulation (FM) in the Very High Frequency (VHF) range. Used worldwide to provide high fidelity sound over broadcast radio, it is intended to be received directly by the public and applies to both individual and community reception. In most countries, the band 87.5 – 108 MHz is used. Therefore, FM is used for most broadcasts of music, and therefore, often referred to as the “FM band” in the general public.
The mesh networks consist of Digital Television transmitters medium and high power, supplemented by iso-frequency repeaters, also known gapfillers. Those networks are generally planned Single Frequency Network (SFN), so the repeater should retransmit on the transmission antenna the same signal at the same frequency as the signal received at the receiving antenna.
Installed on a tower, mast or roof terrace, a gapfiller site requires only energy to operate, as no transmission type connection is required with DTT transmitters. In 48VDC version, and associated with a local energy source (solar panels, thermal engine generator, fuel cell, etc…), a repeater site is perfectly adapted to isolated and autonomous sites.
